We have been toying with the idea of switching to 2k16 for quite some time now. Apart from the obvious gameplay + graphics upgrade we would get from it, it still lacks in crucial storytelling elements that we rely heavily on currently using 2k14 for our shows today.
What are your guys' thoughts on this? Fellow CAW show makers, have you had experience using 2k16 and if so, what has been the workaround for cutscenes and creating stories with little to no flexibility besides the matches themselves?
Thoughts?

Thoughts? To quote Shawn Walsh from COH and others feds; Before Story Designer existed, CAW Feds had to make due with what the old games had. SCAW being one of them from having been on SvR 2006 for years, before they switched over to 2k14 if I recall correctly.

You know my thoughts on this already. I think a lot of the elements can still be recreated using good editing and timing, which you guys already have the skills to pull. Obviously you lose the stage dives and the chokeslams through the mat and al that, but they're not a vital part of the show and can always be exchanged for other things.
In-ring promos can easily be replicated by having one guy in the ring and putting the subtitles over the top in post-production. Interviews wil obviously be lost from backstage, but you can do in-ring interviews. All things you did before on the previous games before Story Designer emerged.
I think it's a good choice, as we've discussed before, and would be more than happy to help with the creation process, something we've also discussed and I've shown you. I'm on board for a 2K16 move, and I think ECW would look amazing on next-gen.

I think, Wait 2k17. Maybe the game will have better means of customization, which was available in 2k14.

Don't upgrade to 2k16 or 17, you lose a lot of entrance options and attire customization options

Upgrade to 2k17 with the matches but continue doing the cut scenes on 2k14. FAM does it all the time with their commentators and some cutscenes

That seems like it might get confusing, since there are several customisation options for superstars in 2k14 that are unavailable in 2k17

It's possible, just would take a little more time and a some scene cutting. Create the same roster on 2k14 and 2k16.

But what about entrances, options for entrances like Tank, The Thunder, Nanook of the North, Cardinal Sin, Mysterius, Sermon Bundy, Silas Moore etc. are all unavailable, as well as tag team entrances for The Misfits, Chi Town Slide, Los Venenos etc. and even the trio entrance for The Misfits.
Certain finishers would also be unavailable like Nanook of the North's 'Call of the North' since there's no Create a Finisher option. Also, in 2k16 there's no native american head dress or gas mask, so they won't be able to make Nanook of the North or Gas-O in 2k16.

Yup. Agreed. Have purchased 2k17 and have considered the option of switching, and although the graphics / gameplay would certainly be improved, the story creation, cutscenes, and overall delivery of the show would take a hit in my opinion. Personally, I can't stand the "looping promo" that many 2k17 CAW leagues use. It's no fault of their own, but that's unfortunately the only way you can go about it without story creation mode or cutscene creation, you have to create them yourself somehow. As nickstar said, the creation mode has been completely revamped so many of the wrestlers' appearances will have changed drastically, some for the better, some for worse. Would still love to explore the option of 2k17 / 2k18 down the road, but at this point in time, we are happy with the flexibility we still get out of 2k14 specifically when it comes to cutscenes and overall creation. As long as the graphics aren't too much of a deterrence to you, the fans, then we are happy with holding onto it for at least now. That's where we stand now. But 2k17 is in possession ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I say stay with the current game. I know many won't mind but going a step back in the cutscene department is not my cup of tea.

A problem with 2K17 is in the cutscene creator mode, since for the Authority Cutscenes, you can't change Triple H and Stephanie McMahon's characters to anyone else.
Another problem is the removal of several match types, since there are no Inferno Matches, or First Blood matches.
The only pros I can think of in moving to 2k17 would be the additional options in wrestlers move sets, the additional options in creating championships and the option to create victories, but that's where the pros end

Please stay with 2k14, the current shows are perfect and I love them, don't switch, please.
