Hi all, I've just started thinking about making my own CAW show and wondering if you guys who already make one could offer up some advice on how to do it, ie. which video editing software is best? which game do you guys use? I've just bought 2k15 for PS4 and have noticed that you can't create custom belts, arenas, or even add custom entrance music - in fact, the features on this game are arguably worse for CAW than the last game I bought which was Smackdown vs Raw 2009 for the PS3. Also, I have noticed that there are far fewer custom entrances and custom designs/logos for CAWs. This is disappointing because I have a lot of plans and ideas for a CAW show. Any advice on how to get around these obvious flaws? Much appreciated guys.

Great topic!
First of all, one of the main reasons we decided to stay on 2k14 for the time being is because of the story editor and flexibility it allows for CAW Leagues. Plus, although 2k15 is gorgeous, you aren't taking much of a hit graphics-wise and it looks like 2k15 has a TON of glitches. Better to wait for 2k16 and see if they bring anything back in my opinion.
I believe we originally started ECW on either SvR 2008 or 2009. Back then we were directly patching video input cables into two TV's, using one as the live video feed from the game, and the other to capture! Today, you can find yourself decently priced game capture boxes that allow you to plug in directly through the PS3 / PS4 and direct it via USB / Firewire to your computer. It's what a lot of the Twitch streamers use today.
As for editing software, I come from a video editing background and work on many editing platforms. Currently, we edit ECW on AVID, a video editing software that certainly isn't cheap, but does the trick. If you are a Mac user, Final Cut Pro / Adobe Premiere is likely the way to go if you are new to editing. As for PC, I believe you can still get Premiere on there.
Besides the visuals you see from entrances / promos / matches. Anything audio is usually done through editing, none of the entrance music you hear is from the in-game audio and is done through the editing program, this way we can add the right amount of reverb to give it that "arena feel". Any animations, such as Night of Champions, have also been designed on our end.
All in all, it IS possible to have a CAW show on 2k15, it just doesn't allow you the flexibility or have as easy in-game capabilities that we had in past games. It seems with 2k15 at least, they have put CAW's in the back seat and focused more on single player mode and story mode.
Hopefully that helps a bit! Always glad to lend a helping hand to other potential CAW lovers and creators!

thanks so much for that mick, very helpful. and i was thinking exactly what you suggested - to wait and see what 2k16 is like and try to work something on there, which is a shame as i was looking forward to starting it this summer. i have to say i am very disappointed in 2k15's CAW features, and to be honest the game itself is not that impressive either when compared to the smackdown vs raw series. only thing i like is (obviously) the graphics and the new pinning feature. the single player mode is good as well to be fair but that's not my favourite part of a wrestling game as i prefer to use the creation features. let's hope 2k16 is better. if not, i'll go back to 2k14 i guess - however i now only have a ps4 so i'd have to go back to ps3 for it :/
also, another question - you said you created all the visuals/logos yourself. is there a cheap and easy-to-use program (i'm not experienced with these things but willing to learn how to use them) to create animations such as your (very cool, btw) night of champions one? as well as if i wanted to create my own custom logo for the show or a custom name bar for wrestlers' entrances? like the one FSCW uses? thanks again.
